Moscow Ready to Bolster Presence in Africa: Putin Calls for Increased Russian Attachés, Specialists, and Intergovernmental Commissions

ST. PETERSBURG, July 27. /TASS/. President Vladimir Putin stated at a plenary session of the Russia-Africa economic and humanitarian forum that Russia is prepared to enhance its presence in African countries by expanding the chain of its trade missions.

"We are ready to expand the chain of Russian trade missions in Africa and increase personnel for economic cooperation, covering areas such as agriculture, education, science, information, and communication technologies," he emphasized.

Additionally, Putin proposed an increase in the number of Russian attaches and specialists in Africa, as well as in the establishment of intergovernmental commissions. He highlighted that Russia currently maintains intergovernmental commissions with every third country on the continent, totaling 18 commissions for 54 countries. Putin encouraged African nations, particularly those not yet covered, to consider forming such commissions jointly.

"We are fully prepared for this and believe it would be beneficial," added President Putin.
