In the north-west of England, the number of inquiries per rental home has now risen to around 30 on average.
Scotland and the South West of England are also areas where competition appears to be particularly tight, with an average of 27 inquiries per rental home.
There have been suggestions that rising mortgage rates could lead some landlords to consider selling their properties.
