"Satellite Images Reveal Scorched and Burning Terrain on Greek Islands"
"Satellite Images Unveil Wildfires Ravaging the Island of Rhodes.
On Monday evening (24th July), Maxar Technologies shared remarkable satellite images on Twitter, capturing the extent of wildfires engulfing the island of Rhodes, Greece. The blaze has left a trail of destruction, scorching parts of the island and causing significant damage to homes, vehicles, and livestock.
In addition to Maxar's images, Planet Labs also released photographs depicting thick plumes of smoke rising from Evia, another Greek island affected by the wildfires.
As the Rhodes wildfire surged forward, propelled by strong winds, authorities issued further evacuation orders, prompting holidaymakers and local residents to hastily seek safety. The alarming situation forced the relocation of at least 19,000 people, predominantly tourists, who were transported via buses and boats away from the southeastern coast of the island, where the fire reached popular resorts."
