Apple Music has quietly introduced a new personalized radio station feature for its subscribers, known as Discovery Station. This feature aims to assist users in discovering new songs based on their past listening habits. The concept bears similarities to Spotify's Discover Weekly playlist. While the new song recommendation feature is said to be rolling out globally in the near future, specific details about its operation have not yet been disclosed by Apple.

Recent observations revealed a new Discovery Station tab within the Apple Music interface. However, this tab doesn't provide insights into the feature's underlying algorithm. According to insights from 9to5Mac, this new functionality will present algorithm-driven discovery options by analyzing users' listening histories and preferences. The initial spotting of the Discovery Station occurred on August 7, and it is gradually being made available to all users across the world. Users can locate this feature under the 'Stations for You' section within the 'Listen Now' tab of the Apple Music app.

As mentioned in the report, the Discovery Station on Apple Music might not play songs directly from users' libraries or playlists. Instead, it will play tracks that align with users' listening history but haven't been played by the user before.

While Apple Music typically provides playlists that refresh on a weekly basis, containing 25 songs each, the introduction of the Discovery Station brings a significant expansion. Subscribers can now explore a collection of over 100 million songs through this new feature. For those unfamiliar, Apple Music subscriptions in India commence at an affordable rate of Rs. 49, although this plan is exclusively accessible through Siri. On the other hand, Apple Music subscriptions tailored for iPhones and MacBooks start at Rs. 99 per month.

In the earlier part of this year, Apple introduced a specialized app for classical music enthusiasts known as Apple Music Classical. This app is touted to provide access to the most extensive collection of classical music globally, encompassing more than 5 million tracks. Apple Music Classical is available at no additional cost to Apple Music subscribers in all regions where Apple Music is available, except for China, Japan, South Korea, Russia, Taiwan, and Turkey.
