In this action-packed Netflix escapade, elite former agents Gal Gadot, Jamie Dornan, and Alia Bhatt are dropped into stunning global locales for an exhilarating adventure.
Who monitors the monitors? Who discreetly assists the unknowing secret services when they find themselves in difficult situations? According to Tom Harper's uneven yet enjoyable high-tech espionage action adventure, there exists a enigmatic organization named the Charter. Controlled by an all-seeing supercomputer and composed of elite former agents, this group swiftly intervenes to rectify situations where governments, security agencies, and rogue entities have created significant problems.
If this premise appears to merge MI (Military Intelligence) with AI (Artificial Intelligence), that is likely the intention. This Bond-esque escapade doesn't boast much originality. It takes pleasure in dropping ace hacker Rachel Stone (Gal Gadot), MI5 veteran Parker (Jamie Dornan), and computer prodigy Keya Dhawan (Alia Bhatt) into various breathtaking locations worldwide (with Reykjavik bearing the brunt of the action). The screenplay serves as rudimentary scaffolding, primarily supporting the set pieces. It struggles whenever it delves into character depth. Nonetheless, the action is exceptional. A hair-raising, tire-squealing extended car chase through Lisbon's narrow, cobblestone alleys stands out as a breathless and exhilarating highlight.
