Drivers on Interstate 30 in Arkansas had a less than appetizing start to their day when they encountered a traffic jam caused by a truck spilling cans of nacho cheese on the highway.
The incident occurred on August 1st, and the Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) humorously posted on Facebook, "Taco Tuesday, anyone? A truck carrying cans of nacho cheese spilled today on I-30 west near Prescott." They reassured the public, "Things are all clear now, and traffic is moving."
According to ARDOT, the spill happened after two trucks collided. Crews promptly used a Bobcat with a blade to move the cheese to the side of the road and spread sand to prevent slipperiness. Within a few hours, everything was back to normal.
The cheese brand involved in the spill was confirmed to be Rico's.
ARDOT's Facebook post was accompanied by photos capturing the unusual scene, showing cans and orange cheese globs pushed to the side of the road, with a line of cars along the highway's edge.
Another photo depicted a close-up of the spilled cheese, with opened cans scattered across the road, leaving behind a cheesy mess.
Social media users seized the opportunity to make cheese-related puns. One user quipped, "Nacho usual traffic problem," while another cleverly commented, "Nacho average rush hour."
"It ain't easy being cheesy," remarked another user. Someone else humorously called on Dorito truck drivers to report to the scene immediately.
Interestingly, this wasn't the only incident of food falling onto highways this week. On August 2nd, a tractor-trailer overturned, causing hundreds of lemons to spill across a New Jersey highway.
(Note: "Going ham" is an informal expression meaning to do something enthusiastically or with great energy.)
