Utilized in the upcoming OnePlus Ace 2 Pro, this display employs specialized algorithms and a custom-designed chip to precisely ascertain touch locations even when the screen is wet due to rain.

The OnePlus Ace 2 Pro introduces an innovative screen design capable of accurately detecting touch input, even in wet conditions. OnePlus recently shared a video on Weibo showcasing the ingenious "Rain Water Touch" feature. This functionality employs a dedicated chip to intelligently identify finger touches on the wet screen, as reported by 9to5Google.

This is a significant advancement as current smartphones, including high-end models from Apple and Samsung, struggle with this aspect. The video effectively illustrates this point by comparing the Ace 2 Pro's performance with that of an iPhone 14 Pro while both devices are exposed to pouring water. The frustration of attempting to unlock a slightly wet iPhone is a relatable experience, and the video acknowledges this issue, highlighting it from the very beginning. Furthermore, the challenges of using a wet phone are not overlooked either.

While the phone is scheduled to launch in China on August 16th, its availability in the US has not been confirmed. However, OnePlus has previously used different names for some international releases, hinting that the technology showcased might appear in the yet-to-be-announced OnePlus 12. Leaked images of the OnePlus 12 resemble the phone featured in the video, raising the possibility of this technology being incorporated.
