Google is reportedly gearing up to introduce a substantial artificial intelligence (AI) capability to Chrome, aiming to enhance tab organization for users. Screenshots shared on X (via Android Police) by user @Leopeva64 depict a forthcoming feature labeled 'Advanced' in Google Chrome, currently in the development phase. The URL of the settings tab, "chrome://settings/ai," suggests the potential integration of AI technology.
The upcoming section is expected to include an AI tool specifically designed to assist users in organizing their tabs more efficiently. Leveraging machine learning, this tool can identify when a certain number of tabs are opened, potentially automating the sorting process. The functionality is reportedly labeled 'Organize tabs' within Chrome.
Another feature in development is the Autofill Helper. While the exact purpose of this feature is not entirely clear, the X user revealed that Google initially named it Compose. Activating this feature may require users to restart their browsers. Both of these AI settings align with Google's broader initiatives in the field of artificial intelligence.
An existing feature on Chrome is the display of memory consumption. Despite Google's earlier introduction of a Memory Saver option this year, Chrome now enables users to view the memory usage of each tab by hovering over it. Alongside showing the domain and website name, Chrome provides information on the memory consumed by that tab in the format 'Memory Usage: XX MB.'
In recent weeks, Google has been rolling out updates to its iOS version of the Chrome app, introducing features such as AI translations, map addresses, the ability to create calendar events, and additional functionalities. Users also now have the option to relocate the address bar to the bottom of the interface.
Google Chrome has seen numerous new features recently. In celebration of the web browser's 15th anniversary, Google revamped Chrome with the 'Material You' theme, featuring refreshed icons, new color palettes, and a completely redesigned Chrome Web Store.
