Unbeaten Canadian fighter, Artur Beterbiev, aged 38, has undergone jaw surgery, leading to the cancellation of his upcoming title fight.
Callum Smith, aged 33, had moved up to the light heavyweight division following his loss of the WBA super-middleweight title to Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez in December 2020.
Smith earned the opportunity to face Beterbiev by winning a title eliminator against Mathieu Bauderlique in August of the previous year.
Beterbiev, originally from Russia, boasts an immaculate record of 19 wins, all by knockout, making him the sole world champion with a 100% knockout ratio.
On the other hand, Smith's sole professional defeat came from the hands of Mexican boxer Alvarez.
Since moving to the light heavyweight division, Smith has secured victories against Lenin Castillo and Bauderlique, enhancing his record to an impressive 29-1.
