Dana White Provides Conor McGregor Opponent Update Amidst Feud with Justin Gaethje

Dana White has firmly stated that Conor McGregor's next opponent will be Michael Chandler, despite the ongoing exchange of words between McGregor and Justin Gaethje.

Although it was confirmed in February that McGregor would face Chandler this year, specific details such as the date, location, and weight class for the fight have yet to be disclosed.

In the aftermath of UFC 291 in July, where Justin Gaethje delivered a stunning knockout victory over Dustin Poirier, McGregor engaged in a war of words with Gaethje. McGregor, a former two-division champion in the UFC, has continued to verbally spar with Gaethje. However, White has emphasized that Chandler will not miss his opportunity to face "Notorious" McGregor.

"I spoke to Conor either yesterday or the day before, and he's prepared to compete," stated the UFC president on Tuesday, August 8th.

"I told him, 'Focus on getting in shape, and we'll work out the details.'"

"It's definitely Chandler. He enjoys messing with everyone, especially his opponents or potential opponents," White remarked.

McGregor's most recent fight was in July 2021, resulting in his second consecutive loss to Poirier. At the age of 35, McGregor experienced a knockout defeat at the hands of the American in January of that same year. Unfortunately, he also sustained a broken leg in their July match-up.

On the other hand, Chandler, aged 37, hasn't fought since November, when he faced a submission loss against Poirier.
