"Member of the South Korean parliament, Yoo Sang-bum, stated that North Korea is getting ready for several provocations, including the launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile. These actions are aimed at challenging the summit involving South Korea, the United States, and Japan, along with the joint military exercises of the United States and South Korea."

South Korean intelligence has asserted that Pyongyang is allegedly preparing to orchestrate "various incitements," which include launching an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) and a military reconnaissance satellite. These actions are set to coincide with joint US-South Korean drills and a trilateral summit involving the US, the Republic of Korea, and Japan, hosted at US President Joe Biden’s Camp David retreat.

According to a statement by Yoo Sang-bum, a member of the South Korean parliament, "North Korea is preparing various provocations, such as the launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile, which are directed against the summit of the Republic of Korea, the US and Japan, as well as the US-South Korean military exercises." The News1 agency reported this quote. The US-South Korean Ulchi Freedom Shield drills are scheduled from August 21 to 31, and the high-level meeting at Camp David is planned for August 18.

South Korea’s National Intelligence Service presented a report to the parliament on Thursday. Parliamentarian Yoo Sang-bum remarked that there has been noticeable vehicular activity associated with ICBM launches, including frequent transport of liquid fuel from factories.

Furthermore, South Korean intelligence weighed in on the potential for North Korea to conduct a fresh launch of a military reconnaissance satellite. The lawmaker stated, "Chairman Kim Jong Un emphasized prioritizing the completion of technological preparations in the latter half of the year, and North Korea is currently engaged in those activities. [Intelligence] reported that if the satellite's technical issues are successfully addressed, a launch could take place at the end of August or early September, aligning with the buildup to the 75th anniversary of the founding of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea on September 9 [Day of the Foundation of the Republic - TASS]."

On May 31, North Korea made an attempt to launch its inaugural military reconnaissance satellite. The Chollima-1 rocket carrying the Malligyong-1 military reconnaissance satellite encountered problems with its second-stage engine and fuel stability, leading to its descent into the Yellow Sea. Following efforts to resolve these issues, North Korean authorities announced their intention to proceed with another launch in the near future.
