According to the BBC, files released by the US Department of Justice appear to show Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, the former Duke of York, forwarded UK government documents and other commercial information to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Sir Vince Cable, the former Secretary of State for Business and Trade, stated that Andrew's behavior was "totally unacceptable" and called for a police or Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) check on whether criminal corruption took place.

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has consistently denied any wrongdoing during his time as a UK trade envoy from 2001 to 2011, when he traveled globally and had access to senior government and business contacts.

Investigation and Police Response

Thames Valley Police confirmed they have spoken with specialists from the Crown Prosecution Service about allegations that Mountbatten-Windsor shared confidential reports from his role as trade envoy with Epstein.

Sir Vince Cable said, "We need a police or DPP check on whether criminal corruption took place and a government investigation into how this was allowed to happen."

Government and Royal Family Response

The King has expressed "profound concern" over the allegations of misconduct against his brother, and Buckingham Palace stated it stands "ready to support" the police if approached.

Labour MP Rachael Maskell said Mountbatten-Windsor should face questions from police and Parliament and be stripped of his succession rights to the throne, as well as his position as a councillor of state.

Background and Previous Allegations

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has been under scrutiny for his links to Epstein, and the latest documents released by the US government included pictures of him with Epstein.

He is facing growing pressure to testify in the US about his links to Epstein and has recently moved from his Windsor home to the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk.
