Team GB's curling medal hopes remain alive after the men's and women's teams both defeated the United States in Cortina.

According to BBC Sport, Bruce Mouat's men's team swept aside the US 9-2 in six ends, while the women's team secured an 8-7 victory.

The British men's side, led by Mouat, stole four in their win over the US, keeping their slim semi-final hopes alive.

Men's Team Performance

Mouat's rink was under pressure, given their status as gold-medal favorites, but they delivered some of their best performances on the big occasion.

They stole in each of the opening two ends and capitalised on a third final-stone error by American skip Daniel Casper to take a 6-0 lead after three ends.

Women's Team Victory

The women's team, led by Rebecca Morrison, trailed 7-6 going into the final end but secured an implausible 8-7 triumph with a sensational double takeout.

Morrison told BBC Sport, "There was a lot at stake but we just need to keep believing. We were up against it but we're here to fight and that's what we did."

Next Matches

The men's team will wait for the outcome of other matches, while the women's team faces Japan later on Wednesday and Italy on Thursday.

Mouat said, "This is a horrible position to be in, watching other games and hoping results go our way. We're just going to have to keep our fingers and toes crossed and see what happens."
