Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has appeared in a Los Angeles court to answer questions about accusations of harm caused to young users by his company's addictive features.
The landmark trial is examining the addictive aspects of social media use, amidst a growing wave of anger against tech platforms contributing to addictive behaviour.
Some countries have already restricted access to social media for youngsters, while others have banned its use for children under 16, in an effort to curb excessive use.
International Response
Online safety campaigner Adele Walton and Larry Magid, CEO of ConnectSafely.org, an internet safety and security organisation, have been following the case closely.
Psychologist Donna Dawson, who focuses on personality and behaviour, also shared her insights on the role of families in controlling their kids' social media use.
Authorities said the court case is part of a broader effort to address concerns over social media's impact on young users.
