Saudi Arabia's Foreign Minister, Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, has warned Iran that the patience of regional neighbours is limited amid ongoing attacks. The minister stated that Saudi Arabia and other Gulf states have 'very significant capacities and capabilities' to respond to Tehran's aggression.
The warning came after a meeting of foreign ministers from Arab and Islamic countries in the Saudi capital to discuss the expanding war in the region. Iranian attacks on Gulf energy sites, including Qatar's Ras Laffan gas facility, have caused significant damage.
Prince Faisal told a news conference that Iran's attacks were 'premeditated, preplanned, preorganised and well thought out'. He added that the level of accuracy in the targeting indicates a carefully planned strategy. The minister emphasized that the patience exhibited by the kingdom and its partners is 'not unlimited'.
The Iranian attacks have targeted energy facilities in Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. Qatar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has expressed strong condemnation of the Iranian attack on Ras Laffan Industrial City, which is located 80km northeast of the Qatari capital Doha.
Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Defence reported that its air defences intercepted four Iranian ballistic missiles targeting Riyadh, while the UAE's air defences dealt with 13 ballistic missiles and 27 drones. The Saudi foreign minister stated that trust with Iran 'has completely been shattered' due to Tehran's tactics of targeting its neighbours.
The minister noted that Iran has been building its strategy of targeting neighbours over the last decade. He emphasized that rebuilding trust will take a long time and that Iran must stop its attacks immediately. Prince Faisal also said that the war will end one day, but restoring relations with Iran will be a lengthy process.
