Andreas Krieg, Associate Professor at King’s College London, has stated that attempts to open the Strait of Hormuz by force would be ‘almost suicidal’.
The US plans to deploy 2,500 marines to the Gulf, but Krieg believes this will not make a difference in reopening the strait.
Krieg said, “I don’t think 2,500 [US] Marines will make any difference whatsoever to opening up the strait.”
The Strait of Hormuz is a critical waterway, and any attempts to force it open are being closely watched by regional and international authorities.
King’s College London’s Associate Professor Andreas Krieg has been following the developments in the region and has expressed his views on the potential impact of the US deployment.
The US marine deployment is part of a broader effort to maintain stability in the region, but its effectiveness in reopening the Strait of Hormuz remains to be seen.
