Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor was arrested at Sandringham Estate in Norfolk on Thursday morning, according to Thames Valley Police.
The former prince, who turned 66 on the day of his arrest, was taken to a police station in Aylsham on suspicion of misconduct in public office and later released under investigation.
King Charles III stated, "the law must take its course" in a statement following the arrest, as reported by the BBC.
Police Response
Thames Valley Police had been assessing a complaint over the alleged sharing of confidential material by Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor with late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has previously denied any wrongdoing in relation to Epstein and has not responded to the BBC's requests for comment on the specific allegations.
Investigation Underway
The former prince was seen leaving Aylsham police station on Thursday evening, and unmarked police vehicles were spotted arriving at Sandringham Estate, where Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has been living.
