Elon Musk has announced plans for a chip-building collaboration between Tesla and SpaceX, dubbed the "Terafab" facility, to be built near Tesla's Austin headquarters and "gigafactory".
According to Bloomberg, Musk shared his plans at an event in downtown Austin, Texas, citing the need for faster chip production to support his companies' artificial intelligence and robotics needs.
The goal is to manufacture chips that can support 100 to 200 gigawatts of computing power per year on Earth, along with a terawatt in space, Musk said, although no timeline was provided.
